Serge Severe - Severe Over Premier Mixtape

Dope lyrics. Winning concept. Supernatural mixing. One of Portland’s most talented and underrated emcees, Serge Severe, collaborates with DJ Wels for the this years first project to set the bar high for 2011.

Wels lays down a flawless backdrop of premo instrumentals from the legendary DJ Premier (pretty much every one of my favorite joints) and Severe strolls through each track with ease as if they were originally intended for his straightforward wit and pragmatic delivery. Northwest elite Al-One, Gen.Erik, and Sole Provider and Fluent of Level Headed make cameos on this project.

Do yourself and everyone you know a true favor and spread this mixtape like the next Swine Flu.

DJ Wels @ Tube 01/22/2011

Every 4th Saturday of the month DJ Wels descends upon Portland’s hidden gem of a dive/hipster bar Tube to define and redefine how parties should be rocked by playing joint after joint and so on for hours on end.

Noone expects what they hear to drop and the crowd’s reaction to Wels’ mixes are incredible. Anyhow, here’s a little teaser from the end of the night. Pardon the footage. It was filmed using Qik on the Samsung Epic.

Lawzspoken - Standing in the Rain Instrumentals (Free Download)

To celebrate the 1yr anniversary of Standing in the Rain, Lawz is dropping an no-MC version (which will invariably open up a floodgate of “remixes” from MC’s) of his debut. Hit up his site and download the all-instrumental version for free here

Lawzspoken has been the homie for years now and I’m proud to have been around to see dude come up and develop into the producer he’s become.

If by chance you’ve been asleep the past year, take a sec to download and peep the original version of Standing in the Rain right here (esp. pay attention to track #08)

Timeline - Transparency

Once again Timeline blesses the masses with a certified banger. He’s found that no niche is his niche as he transcends every genre of music from hip-hop to dubstep. Currently Timeline is signed under EMP Audio producing dub-step and trance joints but he’s still bringing that raw hip-hop to the table. Listen up…

DJ Wels x Indiehiphop.net

Congrats to DJ Wels for getting a shout-out from Indiehiphop.net in the Indie Wenzdayz section. The 95x30 Mixtape should still be in steady rotation in EVERYONE’S media player.

Nautilus - Am I Worth It

NAU I’m sorry but I had to let this joint go. Nautilus goes a different route on this joint as he poses some difficult questions to the Creator. This is the first leak off his upcoming project tentatively titled The Revival. Check this and more material from Nautilus here

Weapon X - Weapon XP (EP)

This is the definition of a throwback picture. This pic was from a show @ Portsmouth circa 2005. This was one time almost all (Fluent, Nautilus, myself, Timeline, DJ Wels) of us have been on stage at once and we’re still missing Emic.

Timeline blessed every track on this EP with the ill production, and spit hard along with Fluent and myself on every track so as far as dope producers on the mic…step your games up. Good looking out to DJ Wels for the scratches on Sooo Whack.

Anyhow, here’s the latest project from Weapon X (Sole Pro x Fluent x Timeline) and the 1st official drop from North Next Entertainment. Its called Weapon XP and includes a couple of radio edits. Use them! Check out this stream and make sure to pass the link to everyone you know to represent this North Next movement.

Peace…
